FAV Design Studio: Products and Build System

The products and the system that makes them: the ADHIS Cycle Lab LED signage build, the live 3D configurator customers design in, the print calibration regime that keeps quality honest, and the small product line of Surron plates, keychains and valve caps.

I design the products, build the tools and run the machines.

The flagship build is the ADHIS Cycle Lab LED signage, one customer's project and the best worked example of the pipeline: a brief, parametric CAD, slicing, printing, LED routing through 6.8 mm wire pass-throughs, 2.6 mm returns, nineteen printed parts, and an installed sign at the end. Customers who want something of their own start in the live 3D configurator, where text, colour and shape change in front of them before anything is made.

Behind the products sits the boring discipline that makes them repeatable. The calibration regime tests temperature, flow, tolerance, surface and adhesion, and keeps the failed coupons on record because the failures are what taught us the limits. The small product line, Surron front plates, custom keychains and valve caps, doubles as fit-and-finish practice and as real items made when people order them. Everything here is made on custom order for retailers, studios and individuals.
