Piezoelectric Energy Experiment
Student Engineer
Sound to vibration to piezoelectric output to measured electricity, with the results recorded exactly as they came out.

Student Engineer.
An experiment in harvesting electricity from sound: acoustic energy into vibration, vibration into piezoelectric output, output into a measured trickle of electricity. The numbers were small and I report them as small. The value was in the measuring, building an experiment honest enough to tell you that an appealing idea produces microwatts.
Learning to let a measurement kill a nice idea early is one of the most commercially useful habits I own. This is where it started, and I have used it on every venture since: measure first, decide second, and never let the pitch get ahead of the data.
Status — Academic experiment, 2012–2016.
